Mankind has created spectacular works of art, engineered incredibly tall buildings, designed impressive supercomputers, lived in outerspace, discovered cures for nasty diseases. As a whole, nothing can compare to human intelligence, but sometimes, humans shouldn't try to scam.

N.H. cops use newspaper photo to nab man

Mar 4 2008 - AP
Vern Potter's whereabouts had been unknown since Concord police issued an arrest warrant for him in January. Then a police lieutenant happened to spot a page-one photo of Potter in Tuesday's New Hampshire Union Leader, shoveling snow off the roof of Andover Elementary School.

The photo accompanied a story with the headline, "Up on the roof; shoveling reaches new levels."

Police learned that the Potter, 31, who works for a roofing company, was at the school again Tuesday and arranged to arrest him on an insurance fraud charge.

Potter is scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on Wednesday. He's accused of filing a false personal injury claim following an accident in 2006.
