Mankind has created spectacular works of art, engineered incredibly tall buildings, designed impressive supercomputers, lived in outerspace, discovered cures for nasty diseases. As a whole, nothing can compare to human intelligence, but sometimes, humans are beyond brainless.

Police shoot, kill naked intruder in Mankato

Police shot and killed a naked man who apparently broke into an apartment and threatened the officers with broken glass.

Police were called by residents who came home to find a naked man damaging things in their apartment.

The officers who responded late Sunday tried to subdue the man and were injured. They shot and killed the man at the scene.

The name of the man was not immediately released. The three officers were treated and released from Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating, with help from the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
